Crown reduction

This is a common technique used to prune trees. Foliage is cut from the outer edges of the tree, neatening the crown and reducing the overall shape and size of the tree. Good for maintaining the health of a tree and reducing its weight, it prevents the danger of limbs breaking and falling.

Crown thinning

This technique reduces the number of shoots in a tree, allowing more light to pass through. It strengthens the tree by making it less wind resistant and prone to limb damage.

Crown Lifting / Uplifting

This technique removes the lower branches of a tree, ‘raising’ the foliage and leaving a larger space underneath. This is particularly useful if access is required beneath the tree, perhaps for a walkway or a vehicle.

Pollarding

Pollarding is typically done to keep a tree in a healthy state and reduce excess weight, preventing the risk of damage to other property, such as telephone wires or streetlights. All smaller branches and foliage is removed, leaving larger limbs with a stump like finish.

Fruit Tree pruning

Fruit tree pruning is typically done to help young trees develop thick stems and open canopies. It can also reduce fungal and bacterial diseases.

Dead wooding

Dead wood is the term given to a part of a tree that is dead. It can be problematic as dead wood is more vulnerable to breaking off and falling. Dead wooding removes these dead branches or limbs; ensuring the tree is safe, preventing rot and keeping the tree healthy.

Felling

Felling is when a tree is cut down completely. This may be necessary if a tree is diseased, has been badly damaged or has become a safety issue and other pruning techniques are not viable. It may also be required if the tree has become a danger to other property due to subsistence caused by its roots for example.

Sectioning / Section Felling

This is a method of tree felling, in which the tree is cut down in sections. This type of dismantling may be necessary to ensure property beneath the tree isn’t damaged.

Rigging

Rigging is a technique in which parts of or a whole tree is dismantled, using pulleys and ropes. It may be necessary to ensure any property near or beneath the tree isn’t damaged.

Land and garden clearance

You land or garden can be cleared of unwanted vegetation and overgrowth, leaving your property neat and tidy.

Clean up

Whatever service we provide for you, we pride ourselves on ensuring that the site is left spotless before we leave.

We are happy to leave wood chippings for our customers to create walkways, eco-piles or for flowerbeds, if requested.

Hedge Cutting

Hedges are trimmed or cut to keep them looking neat. Different species behave differently and require different levels of cut and maintenance. We ensure that your hedges are kept looking orderly, making sure not to over-trim or leave any bald patches.

We can also organise yearly hedge maintenance if required.

Storm Damage

We provide an emergency call out service to make any trees safe if they have been damaged in a storm.

Stump-Grinding

Stump Grinding

Stump grinding can be arranged. Once a tree has been felled the stump is left at ground level.

George is a very accomplished arborist, he has done a lot of work for us. He leaves everything clean and tidy and we have been very pleased with his work. He has a pleasant polite personality and takes all precautions recommended for his trade.

Margaret

I was blown away at how quickly and efficiently the trees came down, but also with such care and tidiness while they were at it, it was made to look so simple.

John

George and his team were thorough in their approach to the job in hand which was made difficult as the targeted branches overhung a river. The job was priced competitively and the site was left clear and tidy.

Sam

We had a tree cut back and as the tree had a TPO, George took the stress out of dealing with the local council by dealing with them for us. He turned up on time and kept me informed of whether we needed more cut off.
